Today, we’ll be exploring one of the prime features we’ve been touting for the last two launches: the AquaCore cooling system.
Introducing the AquaCore Cooling System
The AquaCore cooling system made its debut last year in the REDMAGIC 11 Pro, causing waves across the industry with its pioneering, risky, and creative design. In the 11 Pro, the dual-track cooling system uses a specialized flowing fluorinated liquid to remove heat with a miniaturized piezoelectric ceramic pump pushing the server-grade liquid through channels that are visible on the phone’s back end.
Now, to tackle the issue of placing a liquid cooling mechanism inside a smartphone that’s probably going to be moving around a lot, we pushed for precision engineering. Using micron-level laser cutting technology, we maintained the pressure and flow of the liquid inside the durable and fully sealed system which passed tens of thousands of drop tests, exceeding industry standards and ensuring real-world durability. So, we solved the issue of movement displacing the liquid, and then we tackled the actual cooling from several angles.
Rather than relying on just one cooling technique, the AquaCore system uses a combination of cooling methods to disperse and reduce heat. In the 11 Pro, the AquaCore cooling system ensures extreme heat dissipation through a complete three-stage process. First, composite Liquid Metal 3.0 is used as a medium to instantly transfer heat from the core processor to the cooling structure.
Then, the AI server-grade fluorinated liquid circulation and the industry’s largest 13,116 mm² 3D vapor chamber distribute the heat evenly away from the critical components. Finally, a waterproof 24,000 RPM turbo fan, working with high-speed aerospace aluminum ducts, expels the heat completely from the device, ensuring sustained peak performance under any extreme gaming load.
With the release of the REDMAGIC 11S Pro, we’ve turned up the heat, so to speak, and installed a larger 105 mm² area for the liquid cooling to cover, dramatically improving heat dissipation and ensuring 2 - 3°C lower temperatures than the REDMAGIC 11 Pro during peak performance. So, why is the AquaCore system so important?
Cooling Down a Blazing Industry
Cooling conventions started pretty simply for gaming smartphones; we should know, we were there creating them. From using a liquid-cooling copper tube pipe for linear heat transfer in our early REDMAGIC 3 model to increasing the vapor chamber area with almost every iteration, we’ve always been building up to the AquaCore system in a way. Now, our inspired thinking and innovative spark has led us from building the world’s first internal turbo fan inside a smartphone in 2019 to creating the world’s first mass-produced, liquid-cooled smartphone in 2025.
As the years went by, cooling systems evolved to keep up with the technology they were meant to protect, adopting both active and passive means and incorporating increasingly effective components like graphene, vapor chambers, fans, and more. Today, rapid processing, advanced chipsets, and intensive power consumption have forced most devices to add cooling systems to the design roster, which is where the liquid cooling journey begins for REDMAGIC as well.
It Starts As Most Things Do: A Slightly Crazy Idea
While it would be nice to take credit for the idea of liquid cooling systems, the general concept existed long before most of us did. The roots of liquid cooling technology can be traced back to the 1964 IBM System/360, one of the earliest iterations of a high-powered computer. This rig was used to process high-speed data for scientific applications, a feat which would naturally generate a lot of heat. Hence, the need for a specialized, built-in water-cooling system to maintain cooler operations.
In the next few years, computers and PCs took the lion’s share of cooling mechanisms, as that’s where the most intensive processing was happening at the time. Then, the smartphone came along and dragged with it a newer, more power-hungry variation: the gaming phone. Suddenly, cooling systems had to be shrunk down to fit into smaller, more portable frames.
Built to handle faster graphics, steadier frame rates, and a variety of gaming features optimized for performance above anything else, gaming smartphones became a prime playground for cooling system innovation.
Cut to last year, when our esteemed product manager, James Jiang, was looking into the demand for liquid cooling phone cases. Rather than simply caving to the idea and pushing to production, Jiang decided to push the concept a step further. What if we didn’t need a liquid cooling phone case because the liquid cooling was already inside the phone?
So, Why Does this Matter to Me?
The AquaCore cooling system represents inspired thinking and a passion for innovation, but it is also very much one of the most effective and practical approaches to ensuring sustainable performance for your gameplay.

However, we value balance in every design, which is where the AquaCore cooling comes into play. Rather than playing into stale gimmicks, we can give you concrete facts to show how our liquid cooling system goes beyond the specs to care about your needs as a player.
In our tests, we pitted the REDMAGIC 11 Pro’s AquaCore Cooling System against two other smartphone cooling systems by dropping them into 70°C extreme heat to see which one dissipates heat the fastest. To no surprise, the 11 Pro came out victorious in the battle with a low temperature of 49.6°C while the other ranged from 54.8 to 57.3°C

However, it’s probably better to hear testimonies from outside the company as well. Fortunately, we have no shortage of those either. Recently, Robert Triggs from Android Authority also tried to test out the cooling system in the 11S Pro by putting it through the paces during a UK heatwave. After running CODM Battle Royale with the graphics cranked up and targeting 120Hz on a large, open map for 20 minutes, the phone reached 43°C, which he states is far below the worst-case stress test benchmarks.

While the 11S Pro became warm by the end of the play session, it still managed to sustain 120fps throughout, with almost no jank or frame hitches, which Triggs states is not at all a bad result given the 33°C heatwave background to start with. Ultimately, Triggs noted the handset delivered “robust performance” in COD Mobile and his emulation test, even in a high-temperature environment, which is “exactly what you want from a high-end gaming-oriented handset.”
To test out the AquaCore system, Kingmi Mobile took on an exciting task on his YouTube channel. Using his REDMAGIC 11 Pro Plus, he removed the AquaCore cooling system and retrofitted it onto an iPhone 17 Pro Max to see how effective the cooling power really is. After the modification, the original 2.4 million point 17 Pro Max benchmark test was improved by 200,000 points, showing without a doubt that the AquaCore system improved performance.

He then tried taking out the AquaCore cooling system from the REDMAGIC 11 Pro Plus and seeing the score dropped. The previous score of 4,140,000 dropped to 4,120,000, indicating that the water cooling system must have contributed to the 20,000 point difference and proving that the liquid cooling system is indeed effective.
In another review of the 11S Pro, Short Circuit also tested out the performance and capabilities of the phone. He noted that while other phones start at a peak and trickle down in up to 40% performance due to overheating, the 11S Pro only saw a 20% decrease from its peak to the end of their stress test.

Ultimately, he stated that if you are someone looking for the best gaming phone certified by their lab testing, the 11S Pro is probably the device for you, boasting a single-core performance in leagues with most other flagship devices and a multi-core performance that actually beat a lot of the previous flagships that they’ve tested.
