A Good First Impression: Welcome to the World, REDMAGIC 9S Pro
In the build up to its release, the REDMAGIC 9S Pro caused a bit of a stir among mobile gaming enthusiasts and reviewers who are, according to Tech Radar, still waiting to crown the best gaming smartphone of the year. In the week since its release, it has made its way into the possession of those who’ve been eagerly waiting to give us a hands-on review, and they’ve certainly shared their opinions.
Join us on the path to discover what tech reviewers and gaming smartphone enthusiasts think about our latest release, the REDMAGIC 9S Pro.
The Best of REDMAGIC 9 Series
It’s hard to imagine how we could upgrade something that was already on the top floor, like the REDMAGIC 9 Pro. A sentiment that’s been shared by more than one reviewer, including Tech Nick, is that this is a worthy upgrade for those who are still gaming on older generation REDMAGIC devices.
However, the power shift from REDMAGIC 9 Pro to REDMAGIC 9S Pro will be most visible to those tasked with scrutinizing every little detail to determine if there’s really been an upgrade. And when they do get to scrutinizing all the details, they’re rather impressed, and these are the upgrades they appreciate most.
Faster Performance
The REDMAGIC 9 series boasts the most powerful Snapdragon chipset of the year, the 8 Gen 3. Until we get the official next generation Snapdragon from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version found in the REDMAGIC 9S Pro is the best of the best.
Jon Mundy of Tech Radar confirms that this upgrade, no matter how small it may seem, makes the REDMAGIC 9S Pro one of the fastest phones on the market. Forbes suggests that the REDMAGIC 9S Pro is ideal for players who want even the slightest advantage in their gaming, citing the 2,369,542 Antutu Benchmark score as the “biggest tiny advantage” a gamer can get.
Heat, Be Gone
All that extra performance will undoubtedly generate extra heat, and our experience with the overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 from last season has taught us that an updated CPU needs an upgraded cooling system. Ewan Spence who reviewed the device for Forbes says the ICE 13.5 combines a large vapor chamber, colder cooling gel, and the iconic built-in fan to keep temperatures down.
Another interesting aspect of the REDMAGIC ICE 13.5, as noted by the Android Police, is the surprisingly silent 22000 RPM built-in fan. Compared with other handheld gaming devices, the reviewer says the REDMAGIC 9S Pro stays refreshingly quiet while doing its thing.
LED Lights That Actually Function
Matthew Sholtz who reviewed the device for the Android Police found another feature that he thinks fits perfectly with the “old school design” of the REDMAGIC 9S Pro (we’ll explore the design story at a later stage).
The customizable LED lights in the shoulder triggers are for aesthetic appeal, but they can also double as flashing notification lights, something that Matthew says he misses from older smartphones.
A Worthy Upgrade
The REDMAGIC 9S Pro has made a strong first impression in the world of mobile gaming, generating excitement among enthusiasts and reviewers alike. As the REDMAGIC 9S Pro grows in popularity, it’s clear that this device brings thoughtful enhancements to the gaming experience, making it a worthy upgrade for fans of the REDMAGIC series.
Jon Mundy of TechRadar says this is the phone to buy if you’re a committed gamer on a budget, looking for unbeatable battery life, and appreciate a display with no cutouts. On the other hand, Ewan Spence who reviewed the REDMAGIC 9S Pro for Forbes says it embodies REDMAGIC’s unique sense of identity, something every manufacturer hopes to achieve.
