To stay focused and stay winning, you need to be fully immersed and comfortable. To cater to this growing need, gaming phones have expanded on design choices and have tried to achieve a more seamless and convenient device. This is why the REDMAGIC 9S Pro introduced its smooth and flat back plate that nests the phone’s impressive camera lenses under durable glass in the rear panel.
Seamless Design for Seamless Gaming
The general idea behind the 9S Pro’s sleek and smooth exterior camera design is to make gaming easier by offering players a neatly designed device that’s comfortable to hold, handle, and game on for hours. The durable single Gorilla Glass 5 coating along both the front and back of the 9S Pro ensures that the device is protected from potential scratches and that its presence above the camera lenses doesn’t deter camera quality in the slightest and only serves to improve the overall gaming experience.
Matthew Sholtz called the design choice “bold and unapologetic” and stated that it reminded him of the boxy design from 80’s gaming devices – proving that the unique camera housing provides a nostalgic and stylish new look for the phone. Luke Baker also complimented the lack of a camera bump – calling it a very rare sight in 2024 that is sure to please those who can’t stand their phone rocking about when placed on a desk.
A GSMArena review further commented that the best thing about the back design of the REDMAGIC 9S Pro is probably the camera module. The review praised the flush camera lenses nestled behind the glass panel that makes the back of the device almost perfectly flat and further commented that the game-focused positioning of every REDMAGIC 9S Pro feature goes beyond the standard of regular mobile devices.

REDMAGIC has also improved the sleek design of the 9S Pro by providing an edge-to-edge screen with no notches for a front camera to ensure a completely seamless gaming experience. With the front camera hidden underneath the screen, players can enjoy an undisrupted display on the iconic 6.8-inch bezel-less AMOLED display – achieving an impressive 93.7% screen-to-body ratio.
Capture the Moment with Clarity
When it comes to camera efficiency, the 9S Pro captures photography with ease while the built-in camera family features allow for more creative shots. The camera setup on the REDMAGIC 9S Pro uses a 50MP Samsung GN5 main camera with a large 1/1.57 sensor with 1.0µm pixels that’s paired with an f/1.9 lens. Despite lacking a telephoto lens, the common focal lengths are more than enough to capture images with sharpness at two times zoom with minimal blurriness at five times zoom.
With one 50MP main camera and one 50MP ultra-wide camera, the REDMAGIC 9S Pro can be used to capture truly cinematic shots while Optical Image Stabilization technology ensures exceptional photography – ultimately producing clear photos while the 7P lens maintains sharp details. The lenses’ anti-glare coating also works with distortion correction algorithms to bring clarity and true-to-life accuracy to every shot.
Designed to Stay Cool
The general thickness of the phone also alludes to its impressive ICE 13.5 Magic Cooling System - a 10-layer setup that combines air, liquid, and innovative cooling materials to reduce temperatures by up to 19.5°C. Within the camera display panel, a 22,000 RPM internal fan with RGB lighting guarantees elevated airflow for 30% better heat dissipation.

While REDMAGIC is committed to creating innovative technology with aesthetic designs, the design of the REDMAGIC 9S Pro is more than just superficial comfort, it’s about creating a seamless gaming experience that is both exciting and immersive. The sleek flat back panel provides better grip for extended gaming periods while still providing integral camera and cooling components in the ultimate blend of style meets performance. Forbes captured it best when they stated that the REDMAGIC series “has something that every smartphone manufacturer wants to capture for their phone… a unique sense of identity.”
