This new game, developed by Eidos Montreal, Crystal Dynamics, and Feral Interactive, explores the world of a young and inexperienced Lara Croft after being washed up on the isolated island of Yamatai following a shipwreck. Players get to enjoy the original cinematic storyline of Lara building herself up into the hardened adventurer she is today, packed with exploration, intense firefights, puzzles, and Challenge Tombs. Players will hunt for materials, unlock skills, uncover relics, and unravel the mysteries of the island and its cultists.

Heading into the game, players can expect the same complete original campaign as the video game, only now equipped with a fully customizable touchscreen interface, gyroscopic aiming capabilities, and a dynamic gamepad, depending on the device being used. The game also features mouse and keyboard for those looking for a more immersive bite of nostalgia; however, this is limited to iPadOS and Android only.

Much of the general sentiment online has been enthusiastic, with a lot of fans in the IGN YouTube trailer comments reminiscing about how far developers have come since the original game was sometimes too much for their PCs to handle back in the day.
When it comes to gameplay reviews, Tomb Raider remains a fan favorite for most players. ExxotikGaming tested out the new game and was blown away by the gameplay, customization options, and porting. He noted that most of the custom settings are typically found with PC games and that many mobile games fail to introduce the same level of precision that this game does.
