In the end, Barker gave NTE a solid 8 out of 10 rating as well, citing the vibrant open-world setup, generous gacha system, and fun episodic design. In a YouTube review of the game, Jerry Plays also stated that the open-world design was truly a major highlight for him. He was impressed by how the characters and objectives always offered something new and exciting to navigate with complete freedom. “It feels like a world that keeps going whether you're paying attention or not,” he said.
He also noted that the gacha system is quite generous, interactive, and easy to work with when compared to other gacha games. He was further relieved that pity carries over to maintain your progress and that dupes are not as punishing in the game. Jerry Plays went on to state that the story in the NTE truly pulls you in with a mix of humor, weirdness, and creepy moments that keep things interesting, and gameplay with enough depth to stay engaging without overwhelming you.
