A Racing Classic On The REDMAGIC 8 Pro
Decided to check out a classic mobile racing game, Need for Speed No Limits, and I gotta say, this classic is still good and is a lot of fun on the REDMAGIC 8 Pro. The game is fairly simple and arcadey, but with how smooth it runs, the arcadey feel of it is part of its charm.
Sometimes, Less Is More
If you’ve never played this game before, you’ll notice real quick that is super simple. The car garage and progression is based on a gacha system similar to what we see in other mobile games like RAID: Shadow Legends. For an old timer like, it also reminds me of the old Star Wars pod racing game.
The gameplay itself is super simple. The game will control speed and breaking for you so all you have to do is steer, drift, and boost. Somehow this simpler gameplay style makes it not only faster but allows you to really go nuts and try to be as crazy as possible, like boost drifting into a ramp and taking out a fellow racer by smashing them off the ramp.
To make it a little difficult though, the game will make the other racers faster or make the time trial shorter. To beat these harder races, you’ll need to upgrade your cars and drive like a maniac. To get an idea if your car is up for the task, the game will show you how difficult the race will be based on your car’s performance level. We tried some of the races with our lesser performing cars and it was a noticeable tick in difficulty, so don’t brush it off unless you want a challenge.
Like Everything, Racing Is Better On REDMAGIC
The surprisingly beautiful visuals from Need For Speed look beautiful on the REDMAGIC 8 Pro's bezel-less full screen display. We set up the built-in shoulder triggers for steering so you can more easily boost and drift non-stop through the levels by flicking your thumbs. To accomplish this we recommend using the default steering controls.
It May Be Old But It’s Still Great
Thanks to continual updates, the game still looks pretty good despite its age and runs super well. It also has a surprising amount of replay ability with it being super quick and easy to jump into the next race, as long as you have “fuel”, the game’s built-in energy system. Thankfully early on the game gives a fair amount of refills for free and it refills by default fairly quickly as well. Later on this may not be the case, but it will still be a fun game to pick up for a quick race or two during lunch.
In conclusion, playing Need for Speed No Limits on the REDMAGIC 8 Pro has been a fantastic experience, and I might be playing more often as I get burned out on Marvel Snap.
