First off I'll have to say: This is my first real experience with mobile gaming.
I bought this tablet after realizing that my Pixel 7a and even my company iPhone 14 couldn't really keep up with the highest graphic settings of the game I'm playing, which is holive Dreams.
And obviously my aging Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 had even more troubles. Even more importantly a, let's call it, "full-sized" tablet is quite unwieldy.
---Hardware---
I think it's sufficent to say that this is an absolute gem on the hardware side.
=Display/Sound=
The display is insane. I have a, wonderful in it's own right, Samsung G7 monitor to compare it with and I'm missing nothing. If anything the OLED blacks are tipping the scale in favor of this display.
The built-it speakers are more then sufficient enough unless you're feeling Hi-Fi.
I can't say anything about USB audio and displaying content on larger screens yet since I'm not really interested and most certainly haven't tried it yet.
=Battery/Charging=
The battery got more then enough capacity for sustained, demanding, hours long gaming session even if you limit the max charge to 80%. And there're two USB-C ports to choose from when charging to adjust for whatever orientation the tablet is currently being used in. This is especially godsend when lazing around. No charging cable in the and digging into your flesh when resting the tablet on your body.
=WiFi 7=
I've finally had a chance to test WiFi 7 on this tablet and the speed and reliabilty as long as within a reasonable range of the router/repeater is insane. I wasn't convinced with WiFi 6 yet, but from my actual experience I daresay WiFi 7 is good enough to replace LAN. Unless distance is a problem of course.
=Bluetooth 6=
I sadly can't say anything much about Bluetooth 6 since I lack a supporting device. This seems especially interesting for a rythm game since BT6 promises some further reduction in latency. I hope to test this sometime soon.
=About the liquid cooling=
Make no mistake, no matter how much work it does this tablet will still get quite hot when playing a demanding 3D game. However the heat is pretty much located on the top left, where the chip is, and not too noticable while gaming.
The light strip is beautiful. I love it. Being able to set various modes for so many scenes is wonderful. But I don't understand why I can't just display ANY color? Isn't this RGB? And if not, WHY not? This is honestly half of the star I'm reducing, because this limitation seems useless to me. Let me set the color of my choice instead of having to pick. I adore orange accents and use them anywhere, but here my hands are bound.
---Software---
Can't say much about the launcher, since I use Nova Launcher. Which also leads to a quarter part of the reason I've deducted one star. And that is because switching back and forth between the normal mode and GameSpace mode (red switch/magic key) had a tendency to mess around with accesibility settings which sometimes robs both nova launcher as well as bitwarden of their rights. This constantly breaks my double tap homescreen gesture to open up the recent apps. Additionally recent apps constantly shows nova launcher running in the background. I can't observe both problems in my two other android devices or simulated android devices on my PC so this clearly seems to realated to the REDMAGIC OS 11.5.
While I love the GameSpace a lot and enjoy how customizable the whole experience is including the absolutely genius overlay that can be accessed by swiping the upper sides of the screen while gaming within it still lies the last quarter of the reasons I deducted a star.
One cause being, that even when set to english the interface is cluttered with scrolling text. I assume the reason is that chinese writing can just convey so much more information within the same space then any latin script based writing. I would love an option to reduce test size here or even hide labels to avoid the cluttered experience of the interface when displayed in english.
There's also a bug in the default home mode of the GameSpace where the three start buttons always unfold and are overlayed to some accent. This I caused because they can't seem to remember the previous state and because of the afore mentioned difference between chinese and latin writing.
Finally both the GameSpace home and the overlay are plagued by an scrolling hint/ai text at the bottom which can't be turned off. Please, please add an option to turn these off. I know what I want. I can enjoy the many wonderful features you've added on my own. It's especially awkward because those "ai" hints keep recommeding features that I've long since have been playing around with on regular or semi-regular basis.
I buy this tablet about 1 or 2 week(s) ago and I love it !!! It's super screen is awesome. Super good quality and the liquid cooling system is ao satisfying to watch. Noiseless and it works for real. The charging bypass is a very good feature. It's not the biggest tablet ever but it's enough !!! Very happy of this tablet !
Acheté avec coupon early bird (Starfrost, 16 Go de RAM / 512 Go). Usage jeu + dev, en venant d’un Huawei P30 Pro Kirin 980 : l’écart est énorme, ce n’est plus le même monde.
Sur Genshin, le jeu recommande les réglages élevés à 30 fps en déplacement ; avec le refroidissement interne, et encore plus avec le cooler externe, ça tient le max à 60 fps sans throttle lié à la chaleur.
Format compact ~9", 363 g, très fine : vraiment une tablette de lit et de bureau/nomade. Dalle OLED 2,4K 185 Hz : image, vidéo, jeu et texte/dev, c’est le point fort. Noirs propres, fluidité réelle.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 : les sessions lourdes tiennent grâce à l’AquaCore 2.0 (fluide / métal liquide + grande chambre à vapeur). L’apparence du circuit est assumée. Avec le Cryo Cooler, c’est plus stable ; sans cooler ça chauffe, mais ça reste jouable.
Le bypass charge évite de cuire la batterie en session longue.
Batterie 8300 mAh, largement suffisante pour mon rythme. Charge 75 W. Version EU : pas de chargeur dans la boîte, brick PD externe. Deux USB-C, pratique en paysage. En usage intensif je suis à 1–2 charges par jour ; en Bureautique/Divertissement simple, une charge suffit. En déplacement, une batterie externe reste un confort.
Android 16 + REDMAGIC OS 11.5, jouable en usage mixte. Bémol : la ROM EU n’a pas tout le CN, surtout Mora en version complète. Pas bloquant, mais c’est un recul par rapport aux pubs / ROM Chine.
Durée des mises à jour OS : on ne sait pas jusqu’où REDMAGIC ira, classique chez eux.
Photos secondaires. Haut-parleurs corrects, pas hi-fi. Folio dual-sided bien en transport, moins pratique avec cooler / aimants. Ce n’est pas une tablette photo ni prise de notes façon Apple.
Très satisfait pour le prix early bird. Je la prends pour l’écran et le format compact, pas pour l’appareil photo ni pour Mora.
Astra 2 just feels absolutely amazing its fast, it keeps cool and it performs max fps on ultra in every android game i tried so far10/10 will buy redmagic in future again

Limited Software Support: Only 2 major Android OS updates feels insufficient for hardware of this caliber; it easily deserves at least 4 major Android updates.
Underwhelming Audio: Despite the DTS support, the bass response is weak, and noticeable audio distortion occurs at high volumes.
Gaming Stability Issues: In Game Mode, games occasionally crash abruptly with a "game has stopped" error.
UI & Software Quirks: Key interface elements need refinement—for instance, the clock and battery percentage in the top status bar are too small and difficult to read.
Lack of Customization: Personalization and customization options are noticeably limited.
I genuinely enjoy using this tablet despite its shortcomings.
I hope upcoming software updates address these interface issues and improve the overall user experience. Most importantly, I hope the update policy is reconsidered in favor of longer-term support, offering at least 4 years of major Android OS upgrades.
ok tablet, the cover i got extra, a REDMAGIC Astra 2 Dual-Sided Folio Case, is flimsy, which puts down the overall grade of the entire package.
The Asta 2 is a total game changer for mobile gaming, fr! The ergonomics are super clean and the size is literally peak for gaming, not too bulky, perfect for fast reaction times. I mainly use it to grind Delta Force, and the experience is straight-up fabulous. The FPS is buttery smooth and zero lag, it’s a legit pay-to-win upgrade for your skill. I was already sold after the RedMagic 10 Pro, but this is next level OP. The integrated water cooling tech makes a night and day diff, no thermal throttling, no frame drops, just pure performance even during sweaty, high intensity sessions. Absolute GOAT tier tablet.
